This week, I read this book called Go Ask Alice. When I first started reading it, I wasnt sure what to think. It was just such a strange book. But it is one of those books that you just cant put down once you start reading them. In this book, this teenage girl gets introduced to all the scary things the world has to offer. At first she is strong, and doesnt fold into peer pressure. When her father gets a job in a different city, she is forced to move. Even though she is excited, she is worried. Alice had never been the most popular girl in school, and she was so happy to move, so she could make a new start, and be the popular girl she has always wanted to be. After the move, she was really missing her grandparents and the people she left behind, so her parents let her go stay with her grandparents for a while. She was so excited. When she got there, everyone treated her differently. and She was so happy with what was going on, she didnt want to ruin it. So when she got invited to a party, she just had to say yes. One of the most popular girls in the school had invited her. and she was not about to say no. So she went to the party. And while she was there, they played this game, where they put a drug into a couple of drinks. And mixed them up, to see who would get the drink. Of course, Alice ends up getting the drink. And it just goes downhill from there. She gets so addicted. That no one and nothing could make her stop. She went on to try things that she would have never tried before. When her family finds out. She is so embarrassed that she leaves home. And doesnt go back for the longest time. While she was gone, she realized how stupid she was to leave. And seeing all the people who have done the same things she has, she wants to go home. So she calls her parents. And they come get her and take her home. She realizes that they werent mad at her. They were sad that she did what she did. But all the things she told herself that her family thought about her wasnt true. She made herself believe that her family hated her when they didnt. She tries to get better. And all is going well. Then her grandpa dies, and she was so close to her grandpa, that it took a big toll on her. And she started up all over again. When she finally gets medical help, it was for a good reason. She was in such a bad place that it was truely needed. Go Ask Alice is such a good book, that goes to show the scary place the world can be. I never thought I would read a book like this. But it truely was a good book!!
